In an effort to organize (aren’t we all trying to be more concise?) her blog, Miss Ash decided to create a separate domain for book reviews.
If you’re looking for her elucidations on things besides books, go here.
As for this logophilic side of my personality…
One very positive thing that mother shared with me was her love for books. She taught me how to keep books in good condition and that it is a sin to rid oneself of a book. After all, you never know when you’ll need to reference back to something you’ve read!
Further, I now have time to read. While earning my college degree, I was unable to read for leisure. Though it has already been a little more than a year since I graduated, I’ve found myself unable to slow down.
I’m a self-proclaimed self-help book junkie. I love historical fiction, religious conspiracy, pagan or esoteric spirituality, philosophy and classic literature.
And then the most amazing thing started happening to me!!
My favorite publishers started sending books in the mail. Please review this, they say. The heavens must have opened up over us, and now raindrops of gold trickle down upon me. I’m dripping wet with free books in the mail. Huzzah! I’ve had a few authors contact me, and I’ve read their work and reviewed one of them… and I’ll do more of this, but on one condition: please edit your work before sending it to me.
Confession: I am a grammar and spelling nazi. It trips me up; detracts from my ability to read what you’re trying to say…
To other publishers, I say mail away. I work my way through books fairly quickly considering that I’m also full time employed (an hour away from home) and a full time step-mom. When ya’ll are ready to pay me, I will go through these books much more quickly. *grin*
And, on a side note, I collect things besides books. Plants are one of those things. Herbal teas are another. In fact, I review tea over at The Tea Review Blog.
Lastly, I write. Mostly, I publish my work on my personal blog, Perilously Precocious. I’ve also published a few times over at Indie Ink.

My name is Joe Rinaldo, and I have published a contemporary fiction ebook entitled, A Spy At Home. I would be most grateful if you would review it for your blog. I’ll provide a free copy for you to read in Word, pdf, or html format, whichever you prefer.
Garrison’s story begins when he retires from the CIA. In retirement Garrison shares the pain he inflicted on his family during his life abroad. Noah, Garrison’s adult son with Down syndrome, a form of mental retardation, doesn’t trust dad when he returns home. Experience has taught Noah that dad always leaves again. Over time they grow closer.
Louisa, Garrison’s wife, gradually accepts her husband back; however, accepting him as her husband and trusting him with her child present two separate obstacles.
Tragedy strikes, and Louisa dies. Garrison becomes solely responsible for Noah, who has developed Alzheimer’s, common in aging people with Down syndrome. This disease tears at Garrison’s heart. Noah ceases to be himself and relives a life his dad knew nothing about.
Thank you for considering A Spy At Home. If you are willing to review my book, please email me at rinald47@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you.
